Flora Cafaro injured in fire
Second-floor alarm alerts firefighters; condition unknown
BROOKFIELD — The sister of former Cafaro Co. owners J.J. and Anthony Cafaro Sr. is hospitalized after a fire at her township home Thursday afternoon.
Flora M. Cafaro, 58, 5752 Stewart Sharon Road SE, was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital following the 4 p.m. blaze, according to fire officials. Her condition is unknown.
Firefighters said a fire alarm on the second floor of the home alerted them and Cafaro was found in an upstairs bathroom. The fire was under control within 30 minutes, according to a call sheet from the Trumbull County 911 Center.
The state fire marshal is investigating the cause, but it started in a second-floor bedroom, fire officials said.
Flora Cafaro is the daughter of Cafaro Co. founder William Cafaro. Joe Bell, a spokeman for the company, confirmed the fire was at her house, but he did not know the extent of her injuries.
She has worked as a vice president and an assistant treasurer with the Cafaro Co. She has not been active in the day-to-day operations of the company for several years, Bell said.
