Crash cuts power, damages house

More than 2,200 people were without power in Warren Thursday afternoon after an SUV crashed through a house on Clermont Avenue NE, taking out a utility pole and a transformer. Witnesses said the driver lost control in the 2000 block about 4 p.m. Police said no one was inside the house at the time and it was boarded up by National Fire Repair within an hour of the crash. Ohio Edison said about 500 customers were still without power about 10:30 p.m. and those customers were expected to be restored by early this morning. No further information on the crash, including the driver’s name, was available Thursday night.
