Avalon Holdings Corp. reports 3Q increases

HOWLAND — Avalon Holdings Corp. reported a $4.5 million increase in operating revenues during its third quarter of 2016, compared with the same period last year.

The Howland-based company said its net operating revenues in this year’s third quarter were $19.1 million versus $14.6 million in the same quarter last year.

The company recorded net income attributable to Avalon Holdings Corp. common shareholders of $0.8 million in the third quarter of 2016, compared with net income attributable to the company’s common shareholders of $0.5 million in the third quarter of 2015.

For the third quarter of 2016, basic net income per share attributable to Avalon Holdings Corp. common shareholders was 21 cents, compared with basic net income per share attributable of 14 cents in the third quarter of 2015.

For the first nine months of 2016, net operating revenues were $45.8 million, compared with $39.2 million for the first nine months of 2015.  The company recorded net income attributable to its common shareholders of $0.3 million in the first nine months of 2016, compared with a net loss attributable common shareholders of $0.5 million in the first nine months of 2015.

For the first nine months of 2016, basic net income per share attributable to the company’s common shareholders was 8 cents, compared with a basic net loss per share attributable to 14 cents in the first nine months of 2015.

Avalon Holdings provides waste management services to industrial, commercial, municipal and governmental customers in various Northeastern and Midwestern U.S. markets, captive landfill management services and salt water injection well operations.  The company also owns Avalon Resorts and Clubs, which includes the operation of a hotel and its associated amenities, three golf courses, and related country clubs and facilities located in Howland, Vienna and Hermitage, Pa.
