Ryan to appear on ‘Meet the Press’

U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Howland, will appear on NBC’s “Meet the Press” at 10:30 a.m. today.

Ryan, who is seeking to replace his mentor Nancy Pelosi as House minority leader, has been interviewed by several national media, including CNN and MSNBC, since he announced nearly two weeks ago that he would run for the post.

The election is set Wednesday. If elected, Ryan would be one of  the two top Democrats in Congress, alongside Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, the New Yorker who was elevated to that leadership position Nov. 16.

As of Jan. 20, when president-elect Donald Trump is inaugurated, all branches of government will be in Republican hands.

Ryan, 43, has said the Democratic Party needs new leadership after losing several key seats in the Nov. 8 election. Since 2010, Democrats have lost more than 60 House seats, he said.
