St. Joseph pumpkin winners named
WARREN — More than 30 hospital departments submitted pumpkin entries for St. Joseph Warren Hospital’s third annual pumpkin decorating contest that kicked off the hospital’s United Way of Trumbull County annual campaign.
The pumpkins were on display in the hospital’s main lobby Wednesday through Friday. Visitors and staff members could purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win their favorite decorated pumpkin.
Nine judges from the community voted and the following hospital departments received awards:
l PACU / Peri Op received the People’s Choice Award for Ohio Buckeye threesome.
l The Transport Department was awarded Judges’ Choice First Place for Grimy Green.
l 3 Surgical was awarded Judges’ Choice Runner Up for Carmel Apple.
l Pharmacy received Judges’ Choice Second Runner Up for Pretty as a Peacock.
The fundraiser brought in nearly $700 and seems to be growing each year, according to United Way campaign associate Cindy Rogers.
“This is just one of two events we do to support the good work that United Way of Trumbull County is doing for our community. The other is United Way at Work, which is a day that we and other businesses come together with United Way to complete outdoor projects for seniors and others who need additional help with their properties,” said Steven Pavlak, manager of respiratory services at St. Joseph Hospital and the hospital’s United Way campaign coordinator.
