Warren man grazed by bullet during break-in

WARREN – A Warren man was grazed with a bullet during a break-in early Monday at his Williamsburg Avenue NW home, police said.

Reports said Lavar Allen, 31, 2890 Williamsburg NW, was slightly injured from a wound to the left inner leg near the knee. He was treated by EMS, the police report states.

Allen told police a man entered his home about 12:30 a.m. through an unlocked rear basement window that leads to a laundry room.

The intruder ap-proached Allen and his girlfriend in a bedroom and Allen was shot after he told the intruder he didn’t have anything to give him, the report states.

Allen told police the intruder went through the woman’s purse and left the home through the front door, the report said.

Allen described the intruder as a dark-skinned black male about 20 to 25 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing around 130 pounds, and with short-cut hair and brown eyes. He wore a black ski mask that covered the lower part of his face, reports state.

He wore a dark navy Nike brand hoodie and tennis shoes, reports state.

The gun was described as a black 9mm semi-automatic pistol with a laser on the top rail.

Police said they found a bullet lodged inside the lower wooden frame rail of the bed. The shell casing was not found, reports state.
