Warren native in national ad

Nicholas Kafantaris is keeping dry as his career heats up.

The Warren native can be seen in a national television commercial for Gillette Clear Gel deodorant.

“It’s my first national commercial,” Kafantaris said. “It’s playing all over the country, and Gillette is a huge brand.”

In the commercial, Kafantaris plays a young executive who finds out at 7:58 a.m. that an important business meeting has been moved up to 8 a.m. Thanks to quick thinking – and Gillette Clear Gel – he’s ready.

“It only took about eight hours to do, but it required auditioning and callbacks,” he said. “It was a grueling process.”

The 1997 Warren G. Harding High School graduate moved to Los Angeles six years ago after graduating from The Ohio State University and studying at the Stella Adler Conservatory in New York City.

Kafantaris, 35, also is a model and works for the Beverly Hills media company De Blois Mejia Kaplan. He’s appeared in several short films as well as commercials that have run in Los Angeles, but the national spot has him hearing from friends and family who have seen it.

Kafantaris is hopeful they will get to see him in something longer than 30 seconds soon. He filmed a couple of television pilots earlier this year, one of which has been picked up.

“I’m not allowed to say anything yet, but you may see me on a major cable network playing a nerdy writer,” he said.
