Warren man reports being shot in foot

WARREN – Police are investigating an early Wednesday morning shooting that left a city man wounded in the foot.

Warren police were called to Trumbull Memorial Hospital just after midnight.

They said Tyrin Blackwell, 20, of 477 First St. S.W., told them he was sitting in the rear passenger seat of his friend’s SUV at a traffic light at Mahoning Avenue and Summit Street waiting for the light to change.

An older model burgundy Chevrolet Malibu pulled up to the right of the SUV and the driver of that vehicle fired a shot that went through the car and into Blackwell’s right foot, according to a Warren police report.

Blackwell told police the driver of the other vehicle was giving him “dirty looks” before the shot was fired.

Blackwell told police he and his friend, who had been sitting in the front passenger seat of the SUV, were dropped off at the hospital by the driver.
