Wean Foundation gives $65,000 in grants

WARREN – The Raymond John Wean Foundation will provide $65,000 in grants to Eastern Gateway Community College and Policy Matters Ohio to support educational and economic opportunity in Trumbull and Mahoning counties.

Eastern Gateway has been awarded $50,000 to lead work in creating educational options in the Mahoning Valley.

”In the past year, with support from The Foundation, we’ve been able to establish a very active community presence in the Valley,” said Dante Zambrini, Eastern Gateway’s interim vice president. ”With their continued support, we plan to create new opportunities and attract more resources to the institution, expanding programs and facilities for residents.”

Policy Matters Ohio has been awarded $15,000 to maintain and build the Ohio CASH (Creating Assets, Savings and Hope) Coalition, a statewide network that promotes financial and economic stability for working families.

The Foundation’ support will ”help empower families and individuals to turn their money into assets, which help foster community assets,” states a news release.
