Police discover marijuana operation

WARREN – A tip from a citizen to the Ohio State Highway Patrol resulted in the discovery of about 100 marijuana plants in the basement of a Brier Street home on Friday.

The Warren Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit was notified after the citizen complaint was received by the patrol, reports said.

Police Chief Eric Merkel said when officers approached the front door in the 2200 block of Brier, the smell of marijuana was evident.

Additionally, upon a search of the home, officers also found several guns.

Charges are pending an ongoing investigation by police.
