Elections board members reappointed to positions
WARREN – Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted has reappointed Mark Alberini, a Democrat, and Kathi Creed, a Republican and chairwoman of the GOP in Trumbull County, to the Trumbull County Board of Elections.
Their new three-year terms began March 1.
Boards of elections in Ohio are made up of two Democratic members and two Republican members. The terms are staggered so that half of the board – one Democrat and one Republican – are up every two years.
In this and in the next appointment cycle in 2016, the terms were shortened to three years to accommodate changes in Ohio law that made the appointment years in odd years rather than even years, where there tends to be heavier election activity. After the 2016 cycle, the terms will become four years again.
In the 2016, up for reappointment in Trumbull County are Democrat Ralph Infante and Republican Ron Knight.
Husted reappointed Mark Munroe, chairman of the Mahoning County Republican Party and Democrat Robert J. Wasko to the Mahoning County Board of Elections.
