Community Stars deadline is Monday
Making the area a better place does not often come with recognition, but for more than a decade, the Community Star program has made sure that outstanding people in Trumbull County are honored for going above and beyond to make a positive impact.
The nomination process for the 13th annual Community Star program is under way, and the goal is to honor those in the community who have done extraordinary things either through ongoing efforts or a specific act of charity. The event is sponsored by the Tribune Chronicle and Trumbull 100.
The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. Monday.
“People who really make a difference usually shy away from receiving publicity,” Sue Shafer, Tribune Chronicle community events coordinator, said. “So that’s where we rely on the community to help us out and give those people the recognition they deserve.”
Since its inception in 2002, the newspaper has received around 70 nominations each year. From that collection of Trumbull County citizens, 10 recipients are chosen each year.
The 2014 Community Star recipients will be treated to a banquet on March 18 at Packard Music Hall in Warren.
Nominations may be made by filling the form in the Tribune Chronicle and mailing it to Tribune Chronicle, attn.: Sue Shafer, 240 Franklin St. S.E., Warren 44483; via email to email@example.com; or by visiting www.tribtoday.com and clicking on the “Submit News” button at the top of the screen.
