Man reported impersonating police officer

WEATHERSFIELD – The Weathersfield Township Police Department is warning motorists to beware a man impersonating a police officer.

A motorist told police Monday she was pulled over between 8:30 and 8:45 p.m. in the area of Salt Springs Road and Interstate 80 by a man impersonating a police officer.

She said the car was light blue, with the same body style as a Dodge Intrepid. There was a bubble-shaped blue and white flashing light on the dashboard of the car, she told police.

The fake officer was described as a white male around 6-feet tall with light brown hair and dressed in a dark blue uniform that looked similar to a police officer’s uniform.

The report indicates the man approached the victim and told her that her lights were not working properly.

The man did not ask for the victim’s identification or insurance information and when the victim asked if she was going to receive a ticket, the man stated that it would mailed to her, but still did not take her information, the report indicates.

Reports indicate the victim was then followed through Girard by the man, who turned off the opposite way she was going.

The woman contacted Girard and Weathersfield police departments to see if this vehicle was one of theirs, and asked to file the report.

Weathersfield police are asking that anyone with information to notify their local police department or notify Weathersfield police at 330-652-6486.
