Falls couple killed in crash
NORTH JACKSON – The Ohio State Highway Patrol has confirmed the identities of the Newton Falls couple killed Saturday in a crash on Interstate 76, about a mile west of the split with Interstate 80.
Kenneth Stoner, 87, and his wife, Dolores Stoner, 83, died when the Toyota Camry they were riding in was hit from behind about 3 p.m. by a Nissan Acura. They were in the back seat.
According to the patrol, Lynn Berger, 35, of Cranberry Township, Pa., the driver of the Acura, was unable to stop in time and struck the back of the other vehicle, which was driven by Kenneth D. Stoner, 60, of Ravenna. The vehicle driven by Kenneth D. Stoner, the couple’s son, was stopped at a construction zone.
Berger sustained minor injuries. Kenneth D. Stoner and his front seat passenger, Paula Stoner, 60, were taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash is under investigation.
