Memorial Day events


WARREN – Pineview Memorial Park, 4049 Youngstown Road, will hold a service at 2 p.m. at the chapel to honor veterans. State Rep. Tom Letson will name the veterans lost this past year and buried at Pineview Memorial Park. Guest speaker is Robert Brothers, a Korean War veteran, and members of the American Legion Post 540.


McDONALD – The village service will be held at 1 p.m. at the War Memorial in Woodland Park.

WARREN – The Packard Band will hold a Memorial Day concert at 3 p.m. at the Packard Music Hall. Men and women of the armed forces will be recognized.

MAY 27

BRACEVILLE – The township will hold an observance at the 10:30 a.m. service at Braceville Christian Church. A parade featuring the LaBrae High School band and community groups, will begin at 11 a.m. at the township park and conclude at the cemetery where there will be laying of wreaths, music and prayers.

CHAMPION – Champion Rotary Club will sponsor a parade at 9 a.m. from the high school to the cemetery for a ceremony. To participate, call 330-889-3068 or 330-847-7070.

FOWLER – The township will hold a program starting with a church service at 10 a.m. at Fowler Center followed by a parade and military service with VFW Post 3521 at 11 a.m. Lunch will follow at Fowler fire station. The Fowler Historical Society Museum will be open.

GIRARD – Girard Veterans Council will sponsor a service at 11 a.m. at the city cemetery. Boy Scout Troop 40 will raise the flag. There will be placement of the wreath. Girard High School students will read the names on the War Memorial from various wars. Guest speaker is Mayor Jim Melfi.

JOHNSTON – Johnston VFW Post 7614 will hold a service at 10 a.m. at the Johnston Township Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the VFW Hall.

LORDSTOWN – The village will hold a service at 10 a.m. at the cemetery on Salt Springs Road. Refreshments follow at Lordstown administration building.

WARREN – The Trumbull County Memorial Day Federation will hold a service at 9:30 a.m. with the casting of the wreath upon the water in Perkins Park near the amphitheater where a service will begin at 10 a.m. The parade will begin approximately at 11:15 a.m. from Perkins Park to Oakwood Cemetery, where a ceremony will be held. WEATHERSFIELD – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4192 will host a ceremony honoring departed comrades at 2 p.m. at Kerr Cemetery.
