Suspect arrested following break-in
WARREN – A city man who police said they caught after two women were awakened in a house break-in early Wednesday on Woodbine Street is facing a burglary charge.
Robert Mach, no age available, of 417 Logan Ave., was being held at the Trumbull County Jail without bond Wednesday night, jail staff confirmed. He had been arraigned earlier in the day.
Police said he also violated his probation.
According to reports, a 57-year-old woman and her 28-year-old daughter told police someone broke into their home about 3 a.m. while they were sleeping.
The younger woman reported she got out of bed because she heard someone banging on something outside. She said she then woke her mother, who also heard the banging, the report states.
The two women said they came from the second floor of their residence to their first floor, and as the younger woman was talking to a 911 dispatcher, the call was disconnected.
The mother said as she was calling 911, she saw a man standing inside her residence at the front door.
The women said they both ran upstairs to the bathroom. The man gave chase and tried to grab the older woman as she shut the bathroom door, the report states.
The man then ran from the residence, according to reports.
Police said when they got to the house, a man matching the description was running through the neighbor’s front yard, and they took him into custody without incident.
