WARREN – A local gas station employee reported that she was robbed at gunpoint while on her way to making a bank deposit for her boss Friday afternoon.

According to reports, the woman, whose name was not immediately available, told police she was outside the Chase bank on West Market Street when someone with a gun approached her, stole the money and drove off with her boss’ vehicle.

Mahmood Khan, who said his brother owns the nearby Sunoco, which is also on West Market Street, spoke to a Tribune Chronicle reporter at the Warren Police Department immediately after the incident as he was waiting to discuss the matter with officers. He said the employee has worked for the business since October, and neither he nor his brother has ever had any problems with her.

“But I am concerned,” he said. “It just all seems very strange. She’s a good employee, a good person. It upsets me that something like this could have happened to her.”

At the time, he said he had no idea what happened to his car but was at the police station to provide officers with his vehicle registration information.

“For something like this to happen, in the afternoon, it’s just hard to think about that,” Khan said.
