Struthers teen shot on South Side
YOUNGSTOWN – A Struthers high school student is recovering after being shot in the shoulder early Thursday evening, police said.
Tommy Kimbrough, 18, was shot about 5:50 p.m. behind a restaurant on East Avondale Avenue, police said. When police arrived, they found Kimbrough being treated by paramedics inside a car.
A man in the car said he saw three people approach Kimbrough, and one of them fired a shot. The driver of the car said she did not know how Kimbrough got shot.
After a witness reported seeing Kimbrough walked behind the restaurant with another person, police questioned the woman again, and she said she saw three men and ran to her car, and that’s when she heard a gunshot.
She drove to a home on East Midlothian Boulevard and called police, reports state.
Police searched behind the restaurant and found a small bag of marijuana and a spent .40-caliber shell casing, a police report states.
