Thur. 4 p.m.: Internet outage caused by damage to fiber line
WARREN – Century Link is attributing today’s widespread Internet outage to a fiber line cut inadvertently by a third-party contractor. The incident occurred this morning.
The damage is affecting both internet and voice call services, according to a spokeswoman from Century Link.
She said in emergency situations, customers will be able to dial 9-1-1; however, some will need to provide their location information to emergency dispatchers.
The company did not give a timeline for the repair but said technicians “are working as quickly as possible to restore services.”
