Fri. 11:02 a.m.: Trumbull commissioner meets with GM official in Detroit
WARREN — Trumbull County Commissioner Dan Polivka met today with General Motors’ Director of Local Government Relations John Blanchard to express local concern over the planned idling of the automaker’s facility in Lordstown.
Polivka said he also discussed available incentives, which he said Thursday included tax abatements on new construction and bonds free of sales tax through the Western Reserve Port Authority on retrofitting equipment at the plant.
Polivka is in Detroit to attend a vigil for United Auto Workers members affected by General Motors’ decision to idle four plants in the U.S., including Lordstown, that employ UAW members. There is a fifth plant is in Canada.
