Mon. 11:53 a.m.: UPDATE 12:19 p.m.: YSU on lockdown after man pulls gun

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State University, St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County remain on lockdown this afternoon as police continue to search for a man who pulled a gun on the college campus late this morning.

The gunman, described by the university as a black male wearing a red hoodie with red and white lettering, dreadlocks and a black backpack, was last seen by the YSU recreation center, reports state.

According to a YSU police dispatcher, two men were arguing inside Kilcawley Center at 11:10 a.m., and one man pulled a gun on the other. No shots were fired.

The school went on lockdown at 11:20 a.m., according to university police.

A campuswide alert states: “All exterior doors are to be locked. All office doors locked. Shelter in place till further notice.”

“There are no reported injuries of any sort,” a release from YSU states.
