Fri. 1:55 p.m.: Nurses union, Steward reach tentative agreement

YOUNGSTOWN – Nurses at Northside Regional Medical Center have reached a tentative agreement with Steward Health Care, a top union official confirmed today.

Laurie Hornberger, president of the Youngstown General Duty Nurses Association, said members will vote on the proposal next week. A meeting date hasn’t been confirmed, she said.

“There is really nothing else to say at this time,” Hornberger said.

The union was to negotiate severance packages with Steward at the end of August into early this month after the health care provider announced Aug. 15 it would be closing the facility on Gypsy Lane on Sept. 20 due to it being under utilized.
