Update: Sun. 11:37 p.m.: Body believed to be that of missing Warren man
WARREN — The body found this evening in a wooded area off Risher Road SW is believed to be that of Jerry “Jay” Hughley, the missing boyfriend of a woman whose body was found a week ago today outside nearby Deemer Park.
“Can I get somebody on Risher Road? I’ve been out here looking for my nephew, Jay Hughley. I think I just found him in the woods,” a frantic voice can be heard saying on a 911 recording about 7:20 p.m.
A half dozen city police cruisers and two coroner’s vehicles converged on Risher Road between Martin Luther King Boulevard SW and Pershing Avenue SW. The road was blocked off in both directions until about 10 p.m.
Police at the scene would not comment on the investigation or on how the victim died, nor did they confirm the identity of the victim. Police said more information would be released Monday morning.
The site is about a mile southwest of Deemer Park. The body of Brittany Denise May, 28, who had been shot to death, was found by a passer-by the morning of July 22 on Front Street near Raiders Path next to the park.
She shared a home on Hamilton Street SW with Hughley, who hadn’t been seen seen since July 21, family members said.
