Tue. 11:43 p.m.: Two newcomers, incumbent fill openings on Mathews school board
VIENNA — In a crowded, seven-person race, an incumbent and two newcomers were the top vote-getters for three seats on the Mathews Local School District Board of Education.
Incomplete and unofficial results in Tuesday’s election had newcomer Tom Gifford receiving 22.7 percent of the votes; newcomer Jim Pegg Jr., 16.5 percent; and incumbent Tarin Brown, 15.8 percent.
Other candidates were Steve Haynie, 14 percent; incumbent Terry Woodyard, 11.3 percent; Dan Douglas, 10.3 percent; and Rusty DeJean, 9.4 percent.
The other incumbent, Jamie Koehler, did not seek re-election.
