Tue. 10:38 p.m.: Incumbent, newcomer, take seats on Newton Falls council

NEWTON FALLS — An incumbent for council at-large will serve again and a fresh face to politics will take the 1st Ward seat, according to general election results Tuesday.

With 56.1 percent of votes, Tarry Alberini, incumbent, bested former mayor Patrick Layshock’s 43.9 percent of the votes for the at-large seat, according to incomplete, unofficial results. Alberini said the results show the council is on the right track.

In the 1st Ward, newcomer Joe Battisti collected 53.2 percent of votes compared to Keith Capirano’s 46.8 percent, according to incomplete, unofficial results.
