WHAT: Township trustee meeting Monday

PRESENT: Paul Hovis, Frank Parke and Ted Webb


• Agreed not to have a hearing for ALDI’s liquor permit request;

• Increased IT specialist Joel Davis’ wage by $3.20, for a total of $28.50 per hour, with back pay from July 2. The motion was passed by Hovis and Webb with Parke saying no. Webb said Davis has not had a raise in seven years;

• Tabled a resolution on how much to pay individuals who fill in while the cemetery sexton is away;

• Approved purchases with the grant money for firefighter gloves, firefighting hoods and a gear washer;

• Accepted the resignation of Steven Greene, part-time patrol officer, who accepted a job at the Niles Police Department. Zachary Dzurinda was hired to replace Greene, pending a drug screening, physical and psychological exams;

• Agreed to sell impounded vehicles online;

• Discussed the waterline project. Webb said the project is right on track and the engineering should be done by March. The trustees plan to have a meeting to explain the project to residents;

• Announced about 50 smoke alarms have been handed out as part of a grant received;

• Announced the eighth annual food drive at Wal-Mart 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday;

• Reminded residents parks are now closed.
