Thur. 4:21 p.m.: Local airmen to spray for mosquitoes in aftermath of Hurricane Harvey

VIENNA – The Vienna-based 910th Airlift Wing, the only large area fixed-wing aerial spray unit in the U.S. Department of Defense, will spray for mosquitoes in Texas in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.

Four C-130 Hercules aircraft assigned to the 757th Airlift Squadron and nearly 70 reserve airmen will depart today for Lackland Air Force Base in Texas to begin spraying in coordination with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, according to a news release from the station.
