Mon. 12:20 p.m.: Boy, 2, found in swimming pool

MASURY – A Sharon boy, 2, died after he was found in a Masury swimming pool Sunday a few blocks from his home, according to Brookfield police.

The boy, of Lafayette Avenue, Sharon, has not been identified. He was found a few blocks from his home in the backyard of 675 Syme St. in Masury.

Sharon police are investigating. An autopsy is expected to be conducted in Pennsylvania because the boy was taken to Sharon Regional Hospital before he died. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation was called to assist with crime scene mapping.

First responders from multiple departments and volunteers searched for the boy and his brother before he was found around 8:30 p.m. His older brother was found around 5:15 p.m. after the two were reported missing earlier in the afternoon, according to a 911 call summary.

A helicopter, drone and K-9s assisted in the search.
