Mon. 5:08 p.m.: Boil alert issued for south side of Niles
NILES — A waterline break where a crew is replacing valves for the Mahoning Valley Sanitary District disrupted water service in the neighborhoods of Fifth, Third, Second and First streets and the neighboring side streets.
A boil alert has been issued until further notice for the same areas. Residents are advised to bring all water meant for consumption to a rolling boiling before cooling for drinking.
Water is being diverted to restore services, said Edward Stredney, Niles service director.
Drivers are being detoured for the week while a crew works on a section of state Route 46 just north of McKees Lane.
