Thurs. 7:50 pm: Judge admonishes sexual predator in court

WARREN – Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Ronald J. Rice, in sentencing a Niles man Thursday to 48 years in prison, admonished the man who was convicted of multiple felonies linked to a chain of crimes that terrorized a Weathersfield family in November and December.

Michael Peach, 41, appeared before Rice for sentencing after he pleaded guilty in April to 18 charges, which included three counts of gross sexual imposition, two counts of aggravated burglary, three counts of felonious assault, two counts of kidnapping, attempted kidnapping, aggravated robbery, possession of criminal tools, two counts of failure to comply with police officer and three counts of illegal use of minor in nudity-oriented material or performances.

Peach agreed to plead guilty rather than go to trial and face a possibility of more than 90 years in prison.

From a prepared statement, Rice told Peach why he was receiving a prison term that probably will last for the rest of his life.
