Wed., 1:30 pm: Sheriff makes change in drug task force

WARREN — In announcing a change in strategy of going after “purveyors of death” drug dealers, Trumbull County Sheriff Paul Monroe said Wednesday morning he was appointing a Howland detective as the new leader of the Trumbull Ashtabula Group drug task force.

Tony Villanueva, who was hired by Monroe when he was Howland police chief, will take over the task force on May 2, Monroe said.

Capt. Jeff Orr, current TAG director, will retire May 1, Monroe said.

Monroe said the replacement of Orr was due to philosophical differences.

“Jeff Orr has been a positive, outstanding member of our office,” the sheriff said.
