Mon. 4:10 p.m.: Hubbard’s ex-mayor jailed without bond
WARREN – The former mayor of Hubbard who could face life in prison after pleading guilty last week to 20 child sex charges, turned himself into the Trumbull County Jail today after the judge revoked his bond.
Trumbull Common Pleas Judge Peter J. Kontos revoked the $75,000 bond posted by former Mayor Richard Keenan, 66, as he awaits sentencing. Keenen pleaded guilty last Friday to eight counts of rape that carry a potential life sentence, four counts of attempted rape and eight counts of gross sexual imposition.
The revocation was held without a hearing as assistant Prosecutor Gabriel Wildman said Keenan was expected to turn himself in at the jail through his attorney J. Gerald Ingram.
The victim was a young girl known to Keenan who was assaulted from Sept. 12, 2013, when she was 4 through June 21, 2016, according to the indictment.
