Wed. 8:45 pm: Multiple gunshots killed Weathersfield victim
WEATHERSFIELD – Multiple gunshot wounds killed a man whose suspected killer was shot hours later by police, according to the Trumbull County Coroner’s Office and Weathersfield police.
Van Blevins, 44, was in his 3518 Main St. home when a man broke in through a back window and shot him in front of the suspect’s wife and daughter, according to a 911 call Candace Latimer placed from a stranger’s phone after she fled to Taco Bell with her 9-year-old.
Coroner Humphrey Germaniuk ruled Blevins’ death was a homicide. Weathersfield police Chief Michael Naples said it appears Blevins was shot by Richard Latimer, 34, but the investigation is ongoing.
