Wed. 7:40 pm: Officers catch accused hotel bandit

WARREN – A Warren man was arraigned Wednesday on aggravated robbery charges after he was arrested in connection with an overnight robbery at the downtown Best Western Hotel.

Michael G. Sallaz, 55, 152 Comstock NW, pleaded not guilty before Warren Municipal Judge Thomas Gysegem, who set bond at $7,500. As a condition of the bond, Gysegem ordered Sallaz to stay away from the Best Western.

Sallaz’s next court date is scheduled Feb. 23. Jail records show Sallaz was still in custody as of 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Police officers responded to a robbery call at the 136 N. Park Ave. hotel at 3:09 a.m. Wednesday. Officers were told a man with a missing tooth who appeared to be homeless and wearing a camouflage hoodie and blue jeans came up to the clerk saying he had a gun, the report states.
