Wed. 10:20 pm: Young mother sentenced to 30 months in OD case

WARREN – Despite an assistant prosecutor seeking the maximum penalty of six years, a Trumbull County judge handed down a 30-month prison sentence Wednesday to a Warren woman convicted of two counts of child endangering after her two young children ate heroin in February and had to be revived with an opiate antidote.

Carlisa Davis, 19, was found guilty in early November by a jury that deliberated less than two hours after a three-day trial in the Common Pleas courtroom of Judge W. Wyatt McKay.

At Wednesday’s sentencing hearing, defense attorney Michael Scala pleaded for probation for Davis, saying the young woman had a stable job and had found living arrangements with her grandmother, who now has custody of the two children involved in the case.
