Mon. 2 p.m.: Former Niles mayor and 2 other defendants plead not guilty to indictment
WARREN – Former Niles Mayor Ralph A. Infante, his wife and a city employee pleaded not guilty today to charges contained in a 56-count political corruption and gambling indictment.
All three are free on individual $100,000 personal recognizance bonds set by visiting Judge Patricia A. Cosgrove in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Charges against Infante, 61, include allegations of tampering with records for failing to report gifts or gambling proceeds when filing taxes and Ohio Ethics Commission reports, filing a false disclosure statement, falsification, obstruction of justice and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, court records state.
