Wagering increases at Austintown racino
AUSTINTOWN — Wagering at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course in October increased about 12 percent from where it was the same month a year ago.
Last month, $88.08 million credits were played at the local racino in Austintown, compared with $78.47 million in October 2015, according to numbers released by the Ohio Lottery Commission on Tuesday.
The commission oversees video lottery terminals, or VLTs, in the state.
The facility reported $84 million in wagering for September.
In October, $78.17 million credits were won by gamers at the facility, up from $69.93 million the same month last year and $74.73 million in September.
Net winnings were at $8.58 million in October, up from $7.92 million the same month last year and $8.17 million in September.
The percent payout increased to 90.26 in October, up from 89.9 percent the same month last year, but comparable to where it was in September at 90.27 percent.
In October, the win per VLT per day rose to $282 from $272 the same month in 2015. It was up from $278 in September.
Of the net winnings in October, $5.67 million went to Penn National Gaming Inc., the Wyomissing, Pa., company that operates the Austintown racino; $2.87 million went to the state lottery commission; and $28,522 went to problem-gambling services.
Last month at the Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway, also owned by Penn National, there were $78.77 million credits played, up from $78.47 in October 2015 but down slightly from $79.07 million in September. There were $69.70 million in credits won; net winnings came to $7.75 million; and the percent payout was 90.16.

Statewide, VLT wagering at Ohio’s seven racinos totaled $817.56 million last month, up from $761.54 million in October 2015 but down from $818.43 million in September. Credits won last month were at $729 million, up from $679 million in October 2015 but down from $731 million in September.
Last month, net winnings statewide were $74.64 million, up from $69.92 million in October 2015 and $73.14 million in September. The percentage payout was 90.87 in October versus 90.81 the same month last year and 91.06 in September.
