Sat. 9:20 pm: Astronaut, college coach among thousands of ballot write-ins
COLUMBUS — An astronaut, a college football coach and possibly a reality television “bad girl” are among the non-contenders that certain exasperated Ohioans voted to send to the White House in the Nov. 8 election
John Glenn and Ohio State coach Urban Meyer are among uncertified candidates written in as alternatives to Republican Donald Trump, Democrat Hillary Clinton and the other options. Another write-in was “Megan James,” perhaps referring to Mehgan James of reality TV’s “Bad Girls Club” and “Basketball Wives LA.”
In Trumbull County, among the 631 uncertified candidates written in for the presidential race were Jesus Christ and manager of the Cleveland Indians, Terry Francona. “None of the above” also was written in several times, said elections board director Stephanie Penrose.
Francona, Penrose said, was “narrowly” squeezed out by Jesus. There were 744 write-in votes cast for president.
