Wed. 9:15 pm: Engineer’s office employees get first raise in 7 years

WARREN – Trumbull County commissioners on Wednesday approved a new three-year agreement between the Engineer’s office and its 44-member Local 11 of the Ohio Civil Service Employee Association.

Engineer Randy Smith said he is happy about the contract’s ratification.

“We are grateful for the good-faith negotiations on the part of the union,” Smith said. “Now we can put this behind us and get to work for the people of Trumbull County.”

According to Michael D. Esposito, director of Clemeans -Nelson and Associates of Akron, a consultant in negotiations for the Engineer’s office, the contract calls for raises of 2 percent the first and second years and 3 percent the third year.

“These workers haven’t had raises in seven years, and there was a lot of give and take on both sides of the bargaining table,” Esposito said.
