Tues. 7 pm: Liberty zoning OKs Shepherd of the Valley site

LIBERTY – Plans for a $30 million elderly-care facility near Tibbetts Wick Road have passed through the township zoning commission and now will be considered by the trustees.

Liberty Administrator Pat Ungaro said Tuesday a public meeting will be held early next month to “roll out” the project and he expects township trustees to give Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Retirement Services the go-ahead to place a multi-purpose facility on 55 acres just west of the Belmont Park neighborhood.

“It really is a great project and I’m glad they’e bringing it to Liberty,” Ungaro said.

Richard Limongi, Shepherd of the Valley’s executive director, said the township recently changed the zoning in that area from residential to planned unit development to accommodate the project. He said the township zoning commission agreed to recommend the project to trustees for their approval.
