Mon. 9:50 pm: Police: 5th grader brings mom’s pot to school

WEATHERSFIELD – After a fifth-grader found marijuana on the kitchen counter and brought it to school, police filed charges on his mother and teen brother when a search of their home revealed more of the drug, according to a police report.

Mary Setting, 38, 1538 Harding Ave., pleaded no contest in Niles Municipal Court to charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, according to court records. She was found guilty Friday and ordered to pay fines of $150, court records state.

According to the police report, officers filed other charges against her and her older son in  Trumbull County Family Court, but the information was not not available.

Police were called 9:20 a.m. Thursday to Seaborn Elementary School, where Setting’s fifth-grade son was found to be showing off a very small amount of suspected marijuana in a playing card box, the police report states.
