Thurs. 8 p.m.: Man charged with kidnapping, assault

WARREN – A Warren man pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of kidnapping and felonious assault in connection to the Feb. 2 beating of his 24-year-old live-in girlfriend at their Dickey Avenue apartment.

James K. Scott, 27, 120 Dickey Ave NW, was arraigned on the felony charges before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Ronald J. Rice. His next court date is scheduled March 31.

Rice set bond at $250,000, and if the defendant makes bond, the judge would place him under house arrest and order him to have no contact with the woman.

If convicted, Scott could face up to 19 years in prison.

Scott is accused of beating up his girlfriend and not letting her leave the apartment they shared, Warren police reports stated.
