4:30 p.m. TUES: Police look for counterfeiter

WARREN – Warren police are looking for woman who allegedly passed counterfeit $20 bills at the Walgreen’s at 804 W. Market St. about 5 p.m. Monday.

According to police reports, the store manager said an unkown black woman purchased a permanent reloadable credit card and wanted $500 loaded onto it. She then paid with 25 counterfeit $20 bills, police said.

Police said a marker was used to check the bills, and the marker gave a color which would identity the bills as suspect. The bills also did not have the watermark line going through them, the report said.

Police watched surveillance videos with store managers, and they said the suspected woman exited a black four-door sedan with another woman and a man.

During the transaction, police said the woman gave her phone number to gain access to the store’s special rewards account The birthday connected to this account was Nov. 25, 1986. The Walgreen’s loss prevention officer also is helping with the investigation in an attempt to provide more information about the woman, police said.
