Tues. 11:45: Kasich makes it official

Ohio Gov. John Kasich moments ago asked for prayers, support and efforts in announcing his run for the presidency just moments ago on the campus of Ohio State University.

Kasich said he wants to do this, “Because if we’re not born to serve others, what are we born to do?”

Ohio’s governor will head to New Hampshire immediately, home of the first presidential primary, for a town hall meeting in Nashua. He’ll remain in the state for several days with town halls planned in Greenland and Center Harbor on Wednesday and two more in Wolfeboro and North Conway on Thursday.

He then heads to South Carolina, Iowa and Michigan.

Kasich has little name recognition in the crowded GOP field, but he is already airing television ads in New Hampshire.

His home state of Ohio is a pivotal swing state in presidential elections.
