Fri. 11 a.m.: Man injured at steel plant

HOWLAND – A man injured in an industrial accident at a Howland steel plant has been taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Emergency responders were called about 9:40 a.m. today to Liberty Steel, 900 Dietz Road NE, for was was initially reported as an explosion with one injury.

Howland emergency crews responded. A worker, who was not immediately identified, was transported to the hospital with what was described as a large laceration on his leg.

No other details were immediately available.
