Wed., 11:55am: ‘Disturbance’ calmed at prison
YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown police have confirmed that the disturbance at the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center has ended.
About 3 a.m. the issue between inmates and officers, possibly over food quality, was put to rest, according to police. By about 9:30 a.m. however, the prison was still on lockdown.
The private prison on Hubbard Road houses approximately 1,500 federal inmates and employs about 400 workers.
