Thu., 10:05 pm: One arrested, one in surgery after Warren shooting

WARREN — A shooting left one Warren man in the hospital tonight and another under arrest after a motorcycle chase that ended in Newton Falls, police said.

Police took Jeffrey Stone into custody after his roommate Larry Newland told police that Stone shot him during a quarrel.

Newman was shot in his lower right abdomen. He was found lying outside of 1887 Clermont Ave. N.E about 6:41 p.m.

Police said they found neighbors Michael Ferry and Roberson Ferry attempting to care for Newland. They told officers that Stone took off on a motorcycle.

Dispatch relayed Stone’s description to the surrounding area. Braceville located him and a chase ensued. After Braceville lost track of Stone, the chase was picked up by the Newton Falls Police Department.

At one point, the chase turned to a foot chase and the Newton Falls Police along with the Ohio State Highway Patrol before he was captured. A weapon was recovered, police said.

Stone is being questioned now in the police station.

Newland was in surgery at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. His condition is unknown.
