Mon, 12:24pm: Man pleads, sentenced in boy’s beating death

WARREN — A man accused of fatally punching the 4-year-old son of his girlfriend last year pleaded guilty today to a bill of information charging him with involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree felony.

Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Andrew Logan sentenced Scott Walker, 35, of Bazetta, to 11 years in prison. Reports state that Walker lived in Champion before moving into the Bazetta home of Jennifer Light and her son, Charles Partin. Reports state that Partin died from internal injuries caused from being punched.

Light pleaded guilty in October to manslaughter and obstruction charges in the June 19, 2013 death of Partin and agreed to cooperate with prosecutors in the case against Walker.

Light is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 19 in common pleas court. She is expected to face between five and 10 years in prison.
