Mon, 1:03pm: Woman to be arraigned in hit-skip

WARREN – A city woman accused of running over a man with her vehicle Friday night at Packard Park is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon in Warren Municipal Court on a felonious assault charge.

Witnesses reported that April Walker, 53, 1775 Colt Court, and William Whitman, 51, also of Warren, had been arguing at the park around 7:30 p.m.

Whitman told officers that as Walker was trying to leave, he stood in front of her car to stop her. She gunned the engine, he backed off and then stepped in front of her again, he stated.

Walker gunned the engine, and Whitman jumped onto the hood, police said. As the car took off, Whitman slid off the hood and was run over, police said.

Warren police stopped Walker about 10 minutes later outside the park and arrested her.

Whitman was treated at Trumbull Memorial Hospital for multiple fractures.
