Thur., 1:25pm: Woman, children escape morning house fire

WARREN — A woman and several children escaped a fire at a city home early this morning unharmed.

Warren fire Chief Ken Nussle said the fire started around 2:30 a.m. in the closet of an upstairs bedroom at the home at 791 Glenwood St. N.E. He said the occupant, Faith Blaylok, 36, and several children were able to get out of the home and that there were no injuries.

Nussle said the cause has not yet been determined.

The estimated damage is $30,000 damage to the structure and $15,000 to the contents. Most of the damage was in the bedroom where the fire started and extended into the attic. There was also smoke and heat damage throughout the second floor.

Fire crews had the blaze under control within a half hour. However, investigators remained on the scene about three hours.
